As PoK Rises In Revolt Against Pakistan, China Continues Infra-Building In Shaksgam Valley

The new infrastructure could give a tremendous advantage to China in case of a new conflict with India in the region

by Claude Arpi

Today, we are living in a world where everything can be seen from the sky, which often makes human intelligence (HUMINT) irrelevant.

The latest case is a road illegally built by China in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). While in the old days, it would have taken months or years to discover the road passing close to India’s Siachen Glacier, satellite imagery of the new road was splashed over the Indian and foreign media.

The road, located in the Shaksgam Valley, branches out from an extension of Highway G219 (also known as the Aksai Chin road) and “disappears into mountains at a place approximately 50 km north of India’s northernmost point, Indira Col in Siachen Glacier,” according to India Today.

The construction that passes through Aghil Pass (India’s frontier with Xinjiang before 1947), was first flagged on X (formerly Twitter) by ‘Nature Desai’, an observer of the Indo-Tibetan boundary.

Tom Hussain, a Pakistani journalist who writes for The South China Morning Post, gave the Chinese motivation: “Pakistan is looking to develop new overland border crossings with China that would potentially boost the allies’ military interoperability against Indian forces in Ladakh and the rest of Kashmir.”

The Hong Kong newspaper asserted that the Gilgit-Baltistan region, today under Pakistan’s control, had proposed a new transit and trade route linking Xinjiang to Kashmir “[which] will increase Beijing and Islamabad’s military interoperability against Indian forces in the region”.

The spokesperson of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) immediately asserted: “Shaksgam Valley is a part of the territory of India. We have never accepted the so-called China-Pakistan Boundary Agreement of 1963, through which Pakistan unlawfully attempted to cede the area to China. …We have registered our protest with the Chinese side against illegal attempts to alter facts on the ground. We further reserve the right to take necessary measures to safeguard our interests.”

It is, however, necessary to understand the history behind the Shaksgam Valley.

The Role of Western Powers

When China invaded northern India in October or November 1962, Delhi had no alternative but to ask for the help of Western nations, particularly the United States and Great Britain. At first, the United States seemed only too happy to offer support, thus gaining leverage over India, which until then had been ‘non-aligned’; this ‘neutrality’ often meant an alignment with Moscow, while Pakistan, a member of the SEATO and the Baghdad Pacts, always sided with the West.

When, at the end of November 1962, Washington realised that north India was in danger of being invaded by Chinese troops, it immediately declared its support for Delhi, but instead of helping India, London and Washington chose instead to try to settle the Kashmir dispute between their Pakistani ally and India.

On November 22, Averall Harriman, the American Under-Secretary of State, and Duncan Sandys, the British Commonwealth Secretary, visited the two capitals of the subcontinent to persuade the enemy brothers that it was time to bury the hatchet and find a solution to their fifteen-year-old dispute. Harriman and Sandys eventually signed a joint communiqué and asked the two countries to resume negotiations.

Although India, in an extremely weak position, had some doubts about the possibility of obtaining positive results from negotiations conducted in such particular circumstances, Nehru accepted.

On December 22, 1962, Nehru wrote to the Chief Ministers of the provinces: “I shall briefly refer to Indo-Pakistan problems, notably Kashmir. In another four days’ time, Sardar Swaran Singh will lead a delegation to Rawalpindi to discuss these problems. We realise that this is not a good time to have such a conference because the Pakistani press and leading politicians have vitiated the atmosphere with wild abuse and attacks on India. Nevertheless, we have agreed to go and to try our best to arrive at some reasonable settlement. It is clear, however, that we cannot agree to anything that is against our basic principles and ultimately injures the cause of Indo-Pakistan friendship.”

In the end, the two delegations held a series of six meetings, but nothing much came out of them. The first negotiations took place in Rawalpindi, where Swaran Singh and Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, the two foreign ministers, confined themselves to a historical presentation of the problem and a reiteration of their respective points of view.

Derailing Talks

But soon the negotiations went off on a tangent: the Pakistan government announced that it had reached an agreement in principle with China on its northern border problem (with Xinjiang). Hardly a month after the end of the Sino-Indian war, Pakistan was prepared to give China a piece of India’s territory (as per the August 1948 UN Resolutions).

What a slap in the face for India!

This agreement between China and Pakistan was obviously meant to derail the Kashmir talks.

It is indeed surprising that Pakistan, an ally of the United States and the Western world, should have chosen this moment to make the announcement. It was yet another proof that Pakistan expected nothing from the talks with Delhi, even though they had been initiated by their mentor, the US; at the same time, the support expected by India from the US for India’s northern borders had gone in smoke.

Nehru remained optimistic all the same, or perhaps, like the ostrich, preferred not to see anything. In a letter to the Chief Ministers, he remarked: “The talks have produced no results as far as our problems are concerned, except that they have reduced, to a small extent, the barriers of fear and mistrust that make it difficult to approach these problems.”

Negotiations continued, without tangible results, between 16 and 19 January in Delhi and 8 and 11 February in Karachi. Pakistan was only interested in a plebiscite for Kashmir, but India insisted on prior demilitarisation of the regions occupied by Pakistan.

The Treaty Discussed

On February 25, 1963, the government was asked in Parliament if the Note of Protest sent by Delhi to Pakistan regarding the Sino-Pakistan border treaty drew any response; if yes, what it said; and if the text of the agreement was available.

Dinesh Singh, the Deputy Minister in the MEA, answered: (a) No formal reply has been received to our protest note so far. (b) Does not arise. (c) No Sir.

At that time, Delhi did not even have a copy of the agreement.

Later, on the same day, Harish Chandra Mathur of the Congress asked again about the government’s reaction. Nehru answered: “The Government of India’s reaction is obviously unfavourable.” That was all.

The Treaty Cedes India’s Territory

China and Pakistan signed the agreement on March 2, 1963, by Bhutto and Chen Yi, the foreign ministers of the two countries. According to the two parties, this agreement was intended to promote “the development of good neighbourly relations and friendly relations and the safeguarding of peace in Asia and the world.”

In Article 1, it was acknowledged that the border had never been formally demarcated, and that the two countries wanted to draw it on the basis of “the traditional and customary border.”

As the Pakistani and Chinese maps did not match exactly, it was decided that the topographical features on the ground would be decisive.

It should be noted that in its description of the border, the agreement mentions the Karakoram Pass as the eastern end of the border. In practice, this seems to mean that the Siachen Glacier was occupied by Pakistan at the time. This was, of course, not the case. In fact, the Siachen glacier, long unexplored, has never been occupied by Pakistan, and it was only in 1984 that India took control of it.

Article 6

More interesting is Article 6, in which Pakistan and China agreed that after the settlement of the Kashmir dispute between Pakistan and India, “the sovereign authority concerned will reopen negotiations on the boundary with the Chinese Government so as to sign a formal boundary treaty to replace the present agreement.”

It means that even if the 1963 agreement was considered ‘legal’, which it is not, China is today building a road on a territory that is only temporarily with China. It is clearly a provocation in retaliation for India refusing to budge in Depsang and Demchok in Ladakh.

It remains that the new infrastructure could give a tremendous advantage to China in case of a new conflict with India in the region.

After maps of the new roads were published, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar reasserted that Pakistan-occupied Kashmir is part of India; he also mentioned the resolution of the Indian Parliament, which states that PoK is part of the country, and observed, “So, what will happen in the future? Very difficult to tell. But, I always tell people one thing, today PoK is in the consciousness once again of the people of India.”

In the meantime, the people of Gilgit-Baltistan have started revolting against the Pakistani state. The game is certainly not over.

Tail End: India will soon have the occasion to protest again; Pakistan and China plan to ‘realign’ the Karakoram Highway to avoid Attabad Lake, which is prone to landslides.

Trade Ties With India Suspended Due To ‘Heavy Duties’: Pakistan Foreign Minister

Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has said that trade ties between Islamabad and New Delhi have remained suspended since 2019 due to the imposition of "heavy duties” by India on imports from Pakistan after the Pulwama attack.

In a written reply submitted to the National Assembly on Saturday, Mr. Dar, who also holds the deputy Prime Minister's slot, said: “India decided to impose 200% duty on imports from Pakistan, suspended the Kashmir bus service and trade across the Line of Control after the Pulwama attack.”

According to the Dawn newspaper, Mr. Dar was responding to a question by Pakistan Peoples Party lawmaker Sharmila Faruqui seeking details about trade challenges faced by Pakistan in its relations with neighbouring countries, especially India.

In March, during a press conference in London, Mr. Dar highlighted the eagerness of Pakistan's business community to resume trade activities with India. However, his office later clarified that Pakistan has no plan to resume trade relations with India which has been "non-existent" since 2019.

Pakistan downgraded its ties with India after the Indian Parliament suspended Article 370 on August 5, 2019, a decision that Islamabad believed undermined the environment for holding talks between the neighbours.

“We have consistently advocated constructive engagement and result-oriented dialogue to resolve all outstanding issues, including the core issue of Jammu and Kashmir with India...,” Mr. Dar said on Saturday.

The Foreign Minister said that the “onus is now on Delhi to take steps for the creation of an environment that is conducive to peace and dialogue”.

India has been maintaining that it desires normal neighbourly relations with Pakistan while insisting that the onus is on Islamabad to create an environment that is free of terror and hostility for such an engagement.

Islamabad and New Delhi have a long history of strained relations, primarily due to the Kashmir issue as well as the cross-border terrorism emanating from Pakistan.

Security Forces Given Free Hand To Bring Perpetrators To Justice, Says LG Manoj Sinha

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha on Sunday strongly condemned the terrorist attacks in Shopian and Pahalgam and said security forces have been given a free hand to bring the perpetrators of these attacks to justice. Terrorists struck at two places in Kashmir on Saturday night, killing a former sarpanch in Shopian and injuring a tourist couple from Rajasthan in Anantnag, two days ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in Baramulla.

"I am deeply shocked at the terrorist attack and the brutal killing of former sarpanch Aijaz Ahmad Sheikh. He was an exemplary grassroots leader and will be remembered for his selfless service to the people. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and admirers. We stand in solidarity with the family at this difficult hour," Sinha said in a statement here.

He said the heinous attack on tourists in Pahalgam is also distressing.

"I have already instructed the administrative and police officials to provide the best possible treatment to the injured couple. Praying for their speedy recovery," he said.

Sinha said he has complete faith in the security forces and the terrorists will be punished soon.

"The government has given a free hand to the J&K Police and security forces to crush terrorists and their associates. I have complete faith in the bravery of our personnel and the perpetrators of this attack will be punished soon. Our security forces will also hunt down those elements who are helping the terrorists and trying to disrupt J&K's developmental journey," he said.

Pakistan Is Roaming With Begging Bowl, Enemies Tremble Due To Our 'Dhaakad' Govt : PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that enemies of the nation have to think 100 times before causing any harm as there is a Dhaakad (powerful) government in the country.

Referring to Pakistan, Prime Minister Modi at an election rally in Ambala said the neighbouring country, which used to trouble India for the past 70 years, is now roaming with a begging bowl in its hands due to the BJP's 'Dhaakad' government at the Centre.

"When there is a 'Dhaakad' government in the country, enemies too think 100 times before doing anything. Pakistan had been troubling India for 70 years, it had bombs in its hands. Today it has 'bheekh ka katora' (begging bowl) in its hands . When there is a 'dhaakad' government, enemies tremble," Prime Minister said.

Prime Minister further stated that his "dhaakad' government demolished the walls of Article 370".

"Could a weak government have changed the situation in Jammu and Kashmir? Remember the time when there was a Congress government and the brave mothers of Haryana used to be worried day and night? Today, it has been 10 years--all of that has stopped. Modi's 'dhaakad' government demolished the wall of Article 370 and Kashmir started walking on the path of development," he said.

PM further said that the people of Haryana are well aware of the anti-national forces and that the INDIA bloc will be defeated on June 4.

"Only 17 days remain to go for June 4 (day of counting). In four phases of elections, Congress and the INDI Alliance, chaaron khaane chitt ho chuke hain. Whatever tactics the INDI Alliance used for the country have all been defeated by the public itself. Haryana is a state which has patriotism in its veins. Haryana knows anti-national forces very well," he said.

Accusing Congress of betraying the armed forces and soldiers, the Prime Minister said that the opposition party wanted to import arms and other materials from abroad to earn commission and make profits.

"Congress kept the Indian armed forces's capabilities weak so that they could earn huge profits in the name of importing arms from abroad. Our soldiers were not provided with proper clothes, shoes, bulletproof jackets. They did not even get good rifles. I started a campaign to make the Indian army Atmanirbhar. Today, the army is getting Made in India weapons. India, which once used to import weapons from other countries, is now selling weapons to other countries," PM Modi said.

Prime Minister further pointed out that it was the BJP government that brought back the copies of Guru Granth Sahib from Afghanistan in 2021, during the Taliban takeover of the nation. "It is our government that has started celebrating 'Veer Bal Diwas' in the memory of Sahibzadas."

Prime Minister Modi has run the government for 10 years in a "dhaakad" manner.

"Haryana means 'himmat', Haryana means 'hausla'. That is why, Haryana is 'dhaakad'. Just like Haryana, Modi has run the government for 10 years in 'dhaakad' manner. Today, when you see Rafale aircraft in the skies of Ambala, don't you feel proud? I have come to seek your blessings for the next 5 years," he said.

Voting for all 10 seats in Haryana will occur in a single phase of the sixth phase on May 25.

Captain Gopichand To Fly To The Edge of Space In Aboard Blue Origin Mission With 5 Others: Details

Captain Gopichand Thotakura, along with five others are set to fly to the edge of space on Blue Origin's crewed flight mission. The launch window by billionaire Jeff Bezos-owned space venture for the 11-minute flight opens at 6.30 a.m. PT (7 p.m. India time).

"We're 'Go' to proceed to launch, on Sunday, May 19. The #NS25 launch window opens from Launch Site One in West Texas," the company posted on X social media platform.

The reusable New Shepard rocket is set to take the six-person crew to space above the Karman line which is an internationally recognised boundary of space that lies 100 km above the Earth's surface.

It's been more than two since Blue Origin's last crewed flight.

The six travellers include 90-year-old Ed Dwight, Mason Angel, Sylvain Chiron, Kenneth L. Hess, Carol Schaller and Thotakura.

With this mission, Thotakura will become the second Indian to visit space, after Rakesh Sharma's journey aboard Russian Soyuz T-11 in 1984.

After Sharma, three people of Indian origin reached space -- Kalpana Chawla (1997), Sunita Williams (2006), and Raja Chari (2021) as NASA astronauts.

Blue Origin's NS-25 mission is set to lift off from Launch Site One in West Texas in the US.

The company has undertaken six human flight missions to date and launched 31 people to the Karman line.

When we speak of technology, it is something which keeps evolving. Recently, NASA shared that they are planning to build railway station, which will run on the Moon. NASA has been venturing to establish the first fully operational railway station on the Moon which will aim to facilitate reliable and efficient payload transport across the lunar surface. This initiative comes up as part of broader efforts to expand lunar exploration and establish functional lunar bases.

NASA's proposed system, which has been named 'Flexible Levitation on a Track' (FLOAT), introduces magnetic levitation technology over a flexible film track structure. Unlike conventional trains, these FLOAT robots will employ unpowered magnetic levitation, utilising diamagnetic levitation to passively float over tracks.

'Europe, West Being Fed Negative Stories About India': Top Editor With UK Daily

New Delhi: Shedding light into what he claimed were prevailing 'misconceptions' surrounding India in the West, Sam Stevenson, the assistant editor of the UK-based newspaper, Daily Express, said Europe and the West are 'inundated' with 'unfavourable narratives' about India, primarily propagated by the media.

"Unfortunately, the perceptions of India across Europe and the West are not good. And this is because we are being fed negative stories from the press," Stevenson said, pointing to the 'detrimental' impact of 'biased reporting' on public opinion.

In a candid assessment of the perception of India in the Western world, Stevenson told ANI expanded on the prevalence of negative narratives fuelled by media coverage.

Stevenson, who recently visited India, emphasised the importance of firsthand experiences in understanding the country's reality, saying, "People need to come here, see it with their own eyes, live it, breathe it, meet the people, speak to people on the ground, and you will be seeing that new India, global Britain, we can be a force for good."

While advocating for a more nuanced approach to reporting, he also weighed in on the portrayal of religious dynamics in India, calling out the 'simplistic narratives' perpetuated by the media. "The British media are attempting to simplify something that's very complicated. They're saying (PM) Modi is anti-Islam. But actually, when you get on the ground and you speak to real Muslims, when you speak to Hindus, Sikhs, you will see that India is accepting of all cultures or religions. And that is the absolutely fantastic thing about this place," he said, underscoring the country's rich diversity and inclusivity.

Stevenson, who was in India recently to cover the ongoing general elections, also stressed the need to portray a more accurate picture of the country, saying, "It's time to start telling the positive stories of new India, of this great nation on its epic trajectory to becoming a USD 5 trillion economy in the future."

He also advocated shifting the prevalent narrative towards highlighting India's successes and potential.

Amid the pushback in the power corridors of the country against 'biased reporting' in a section of the Western media, Stevenson underscored the responsibility of the media in presenting a comprehensive and accurate portrayal of India. "It's time to say enough with the India bashing. Down with the anti-India 'Bakwas'. We need to come here and tell the true, positive stories of new India," he said, advocating a more informed and nuanced understanding of the country's complexities.

Expressing dismay over the prevailing narrative around alleged divisions on grounds of religion in India, Stevenson challenged these notions citing his first hand experiences. "We're hearing things like religious divisions, but that's not what we've witnessed on the ground," he said, citing the communal harmony on show at the campaign rallies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Stevenson vowed to challenge existing narratives and bring forth the "reality of India's pluralistic society". "We're here to level up the British media's coverage of this nation. And we're here to get to the truth and find some real facts and bring them home to London," he signed off saying, underscoring his commitment to journalistic integrity and factual reporting.

China's Anti-Dumping Probe Into Imported Chemical Escalates Trade Tensions

Beijing: The anti-dumping investigation launched by China into imports of polyformaldehyde copolymer, an engineering chemical, from the EU, US, Japan, and Taiwan has escalated trade tensions with the major trading partners.

European Union initiated a series of anti-subsidy and anti-dumping investigations into Chinese products, including one initiated recently, and there are impending tariffs from Washington on Chinese new energy products.

Concurrently, China's diplomatic relations with Japan have been strained over various issues, and the inauguration of a new administration in Taiwan is expected to further test Cross-Strait relations.

Polyformaldehyde copolymer, or POM copolymer, is a versatile thermoplastic used in automotive parts, electronic appliances, industrial machinery, sports and medical equipment, pipe fittings, and building materials. It can also substitute metals like copper, zinc, tin, and lead.

According to the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, the investigation, prompted by a joint application from six mainland Chinese producers submitted in April, should conclude within a year but could be extended by six months under special circumstances.

Recently, the European Union had initiated an investigation into tin-plated or coated flat-rolled iron or steel products imported from China as part of their ongoing efforts to safeguard domestic manufacturers.

Moreover, US President Joe Biden has imposed significant new tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles, advanced batteries, solar cells, steel, aluminum, and medical equipment stating that Chinese government subsidies give them an unfair advantage in international trade.

The White House said that the decision has come in response to China's 'unfair trade practices' and to counteract the resulting harms.

"China's unfair trade practices concerning technology transfer, intellectual property, and innovation are threatening American businesses and workers. China is also flooding global markets with artificially low-priced exports. In response to China's unfair trade practices and to counteract the resulting harms, today, President Biden is directing his Trade Representative to increase tariffs under Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974 on USD 18 billion of imports from China to protect American workers and businesses," the White House statement read.

The statement on hiked tariffs on imports from China also noted that the Chinese government has used unfair and non-market practices for too long now.

"China's forced technology transfers and intellectual property theft have contributed to its control of 70, 80, and even 90 percent of global production for the critical inputs necessary for our technologies, infrastructure, energy, and health care--creating unacceptable risks to America's supply chains and economic security," the White House said.

"Furthermore, these same non-market policies and practices contribute to China's growing overcapacity and export surges that threaten to significantly harm American workers, businesses, and communities," it added.

The US and the European Union have often expressed their concern over "industrial overcapacity" in China that is impacting their domestic companies.

US Treasury Secretary Janet L Yellen met with the Economic Working Group (EWG) and Financial Working Group (FWG) between the US and China in April this year following her trip to Beijing and Guangzhou.

"The US delegation continued to express concerns about China's non-market practices and industrial overcapacity," the US Treasury Department had said after the meeting.

"Both sides agreed to further discuss these issues," according to a readout on the meeting.

Baloch American Congress Expresses Strong Opposition To Gwadar Fencing

Washington: The Baloch American Congress (BAC) condemned the occupation of Gwadar by Pakistan and China, calling it a violation of international law and the rights of the Baloch nation.

Numerous organizations affiliated with the Baloch community are amplifying their message and increasing awareness regarding the fencing of Gwadar on various social media platforms.

In their recent statement on platform X, the BAC condemned the occupation of Gwadar by Pakistan and China, framing it as a violation of international law and the rights of the Baloch nation.

Gwadar, a strategically important port city in Balochistan, has been a focal point of controversy due to development projects led by Pakistan and China.

The BAC asserted that this occupation infringes upon the sovereignty of the Baloch people and called for global condemnation of the injustice.

The Baloch American Congress stated, "The occupation of Gwadar by Pakistan and China is a violation of international law and the rights of the Baloch nation. It's time for the world to condemn this injustice and support the Baloch people's struggle for sovereignty".

Based in Washington, DC, BAC is an organization to promote the cause of the Baloch national struggle for the right to self-determination.

The fencing around the city of Gwadar has been a subject of controversy and concern, particularly among some Baloch groups who see it as part of broader issues related to land rights, development projects, and autonomy in the region.

Recently, Mahrang Baloch, a prominent voice advocating for Baloch rights and sovereignty, also made a significant appearance at a recent conference centered around the contentious issue of Gwadar fencing.

Baloch, known for her articulate advocacy and unwavering commitment to the Baloch cause, delivered a compelling address during the conference.

She articulated the concerns of the Baloch community regarding the fencing initiative, emphasizing its potential ramifications on local livelihoods, land ownership, and the broader struggle for autonomy and self-determination.

Mahrang also confronted authorities, who reportedly barred several participants from entering the conference on Gwadar fencing.

People React To Protests, Demand Government's Accountability In PoK

Muzaffarabad: Residents of Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir responded to the protests with a blend of worry and resolve. Those deeply impacted by the unrest emphasized the necessity for a resolution to tackle fundamental grievances.

Intense protests and violence which continued for several days led to the death of three people in PoJK. The protesters on Tuesday announced to call off the protests after the Pakistan government accepted their demands and announced a huge relief package.

Locals attributed the escalation of violence during the protests to governmental incompetence, stating that had the government addressed these demands earlier, the protests would not have reached such levels of intensity.

A local resident named Raja Amin articulated on several matters concerning PoJK. He said, "This entire issue revolved around fundamental rights. It wasn't aimed at destabilizing the nation. The entire protest was focused on securing access to essentials such as flour, water, and electricity. The protest aimed solely to emphasize that the United Nations had granted concessions to the PoJK on 48 items, encompassing electricity, wheat, and numerous other necessities."

PoJK Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq had received backlash for his management of the protest, with accusations of mishandling the situation. Raja accused Anwar of deceiving the public and making false commitments.

"Anwar deceived the public on previous occasions and failed to uphold his promises. Despite providing written assurances to fulfil demands, he ultimately reneged on them. When the movement reignited, he mishandled the situation. Therefore, he is responsible for all the chaos" said Raja.

PoJK recently experienced violent protests and clashes, with demonstrators expressing grievances related to governance and rights.

These incidents involved confrontations between protesters and security forces, resulting in deaths, injuries and property damage. The unrest underscored the simmering discontent among residents of PoJK, who have long felt marginalized and voiceless under the region's governance structure. Issues such as political suppression, lack of representation, and restricted access to basic resources have fueled frustration and anger among the populace.

In response to the protests in Muzaffarabad, Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif was compelled to urgently announce relief measures, recognizing the shock and urgency of the situation.

On May 13, PM Shehbaz announced a Rs 23 billion subsidy package for the PoJK during a high-level meeting convened concerning the turmoil in the valley.

The price of wheat flour had been reduced to PKR 2000 per 40 kg bag from PKR 3100. In addition, the government also approved a reduction in electricity prices, ARY News reported.
